Clarke Elementary, Middle, and High school buildings have seen a flurry of renovations over the past year. With the assistance of Federal ESSER grant funds, building HVAC systems and other projects have seen a considerable overhaul.

At the OCMS / CCDC Annual Dinner Friday night, there was plenty of celebration adding up to a “Galloping Good Time!” 
With area businesses, community members and local leadership coming together to celebrate the past year’s achievements and offer awards and recognition to those who made a significant impact to the community, the evening was full of warmth and joy (even with negative temperatures outside).

Friday night was an evening of celebration at the OCMS and CCDC Annual Dinner. One celebration that stood out was the 75th Annual Community Service Award that went to Mr. Duayne Fletcher from Osceola, Iowa. With heart-felt nominations from the community and his family, a humble Mr. Fletcher received Friday Night’s award.

While recent community water conservation measures have shown daily water use averages down and the dropping levels in West Lake slowing, the Osceola Water Works Board, City, and Clarke County EMA are encouraging water customers to consider implementing a bottled water routine for their daily water consumption needs.

The recent Community Nonprofit Forum hosted by CCDC provided more than the opportunity for nonprofit organizations to present their platforms and missions to help the community. It also provided a huge boost to the lucky winner of a $5,000 donation drawn from names of those attending the event.
Just in time for the holidays, this year’s recipient was Clarke County’s Toys for Christmas organization.
