Osceola’s Miller Products Company had a visit from Iowa’s Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg last week. The intention for his visit was to get an idea of how the manufacturing industry is faring across rural Iowa. The Miller team gave a tour and had some good discussions on what the industry is looking like and what they could use to make it better.

The latest updates on Osceola Water Works’ 3-stage plan to help mitigate future water shortages has been completed with the addition of new infrastructure at SIRWA’s east water tower. This latest cooperative update will help reduce the draw on West Lake’s supply for customers across south central Iowa.

In partnership with Clarke County Hospital, the team at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course beginning Tuesday, August 6. The EMT course provides comprehensive training in emergency medical care. Pre-registration is required prior to July 26 (this coming Friday) at noon.

With archeological research and compliance studies making good progress, the CCRC moved to expedite the next stage of the development through action on a Wetlands Compensatory Mitigation Plan required by the Clean Water Act. This stage will help the commission move closer to the design and construction bid process for the future reservoir.
