Lakeside Casino in Osceola is seeing some big changes recently, and one of them is the addition of a new Sales Manager.
Monika Davis was born and raised in Osceola, graduating from Clarke Schools in 1996. Until recently, she was the owner and director of the Wild Poppy Salon & Day Spa & School of Massage. Outside running the Spa and managing the day-to-day of being a small business owner, Davis also took on the marketing and advertising for the Salon and its employees.
“I’ve always had a passion for marketing and felt it came naturally to me,” Monika said. “I wasn’t looking for a new job, but when I saw this opportunity it felt like the perfect place for me to do what I love and help the community.”
Growing up in Osceola, Monika has been around since the early days of the casino in Osceola, with her mother working as a dealer in the casino for thirteen years. In her capacity as Sales Manager, it is Monika’s goal to ensure businesses and individuals in Southern and Central Iowa know about all the amenities Lakeside Casino and Hotel offers.
“My current focus is on the Events Center here at Lakeside. We can accommodate as many as 900 people, but our main advantage is our flexibility,” Monika said. “No matter if you’re looking to hold a wedding reception, a regional business convention, or a local lunch and learn, we have the ability to provide services and a location you can be proud to share.”
According to Liane Crawford-Smith, Lakeside’s Marketing Director, Monika was exactly the right person for the job. The casino has seen a lot of positive changes recently through management and renovations and bringing on an experienced Sales Manager will help spread the word.
“The casino has been a huge benefit for the community,” said Bill Trickey, Executive Director of the Clarke County Development Corporation. “From their undying commitment to supporting local business to hiring from our local workforce, we couldn’t ask for a better partner in the future of Clarke County, Iowa.”
So, next time you’re at the casino or if you see Monika around town, make sure to give her a big “Congratulations!”
