Tuesday’s ceremonies marking the grand opening of Iowa Select Farms’ training center, warehouse and distribution facility was well attended with local Clarke County and Osceola leadership, political figures as well as a special guests Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg, Iowa Senator Jack Whitver, and others. With over 175 in attendance, the ribbon-cutting event provided facility tours and networking for the community and others as a way get to know their new Clarke County neighbors.

With a sprawling 24,000 square foot warehouse including office spaces and conference areas, the new Iowa Select Farms training and distribution center becomes a welcoming icon at the entrance of Osceola’s Eddy Saylor Business Park off Highway 34 on the south west corner of the city. The location was chosen to help support over 115 Iowa Select Farms located throughout southern Iowa.

“With the proximity of the business park to I-35, Highway 34, and rail lines,” said Ty Wheeler, Osceola City Administrator. “This makes the perfect logistic option to meet Iowa Select’s distribution demand.”

With over 5,200 SKUs housed in the warehouse, the Iowa Select facility will not only be an opportunity for business growth and employment in the community, but also be a center of innovation and process management training for all of Iowa Select Farms and their employees. The facility also fosters growth throughout southern Iowa farms by increasing livestock production capacity, creating demand for feed growers as well as creating on-farm jobs throughout the area.

Governor Reynolds spoke to the crowd, touting Iowa Select’s growth and commitment to rural development throughout Iowa stating,

“The great news is, when you grow, rural Iowa communities like Osceola, grow right along with you. That’s a story I’m proud to share.”

Preceding the ribbon-cutting, the Clarke County American Legion and Color Guard braved high winds and took center stage in a flag raising ceremony in front of the new building.

The new Iowa Select Farms training center, warehouse and distribution facility joins Osceola Farm & Home, Boyt Harness Co., Alliant Energy, Iowa Steel and Zinchenco Trucking in the Eddy Saylor Industrial Business Park.
