When major manufacturers and businesses integral to the community, economic success, and future growth of south-central Iowa gather, it’s an event to behold.
With almost a dozen businesses, from local manufacturers to electrical cooperatives, business development professionals, and even a food vendor or two in attendance, the Meet Your Manufacturers Day on the Osceola Square will prove to be a magnet for anyone looking to learn more about what drives business and productivity in the Osceola and Clarke County, Iowa.
Thursday, June 28th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, local and regional businesses will gather to meet with attendees looking to learn more about their companies. Skilled trades-people, administrative professionals, management professionals, students, local community members and everyone in between will have the opportunity to come to the square in Osceola, Iowa to meet, see, and hear more about each of the companies. Businesses on hand will also be able to discuss with job-seekers what they look for in employees and what, if any, jobs are available.
Thursday’s event, organized by Clarke County Development Corporation (CCDC) and local business leadership, is intended to shine a light on the abundance of opportunities available to a growing workforce in and around Osceola and Clarke County, Iowa. Through events like this as well as programs like the Manufacturing and Industrial Trades Advisory Board through Clarke Community Schools, the CCDC works to bring manufacturing and skilled trades to the forefront for the community.
We know how important manufacturing is to our community,” said Bill Trickey, CCDC Executive Director. “Whether it’s to gain a better understanding of what these businesses do or even to find a new career, events like this bring these manufacturers and our growing community together to build a stronger future for us all.”
Manufacturers and businesses participating in the Meet Your Manufacturers Day will start arriving on the square around 5:00pm Thursday. From examples of building trusses from Plum Building Systems to Altec Osceola’s electrical lift trucks and deep water well drilling rigs from SIMCO Equipment, Inc. and more, members of the community will be able to see and discuss the actual work that happens at each of the businesses. Attendees can also discuss work and job opportunities at the businesses and discuss requirements needed for employment with each.

- Clarke Electric Cooperative – Electric Utility Cooperative serving over 5,000 members in South-Central Iowa
- Iowa Steel – Structural Steel and Transport Tank Manufacturers
- Miller Products Company – Specialty Manufacturers of Screw Machined and CNC parts
- Osceola Foods – Producers of Hormel Food Products
- Paul Mueller Company – Manufacturers of Stainless Steel Ag Processing Equipment
- Plum Building Systems – Manufacturers of Residential Roof, Flooring and Wall Framing
- SIMCO Drilling Equipment, Inc. – Manufacturers of Water Well and Geothermal Well Drilling Rigs, Parts and Equipment
As an added bonus, those in attendance will also be treated to great food truck fare from Ferinheit Wood Oven Pizza out of St, Mary’s, Iowa.
