Osceola Chamber Main Street has been in search of a new director over the summer and has recently hired Ashleigh Eckels for the job.
Eckels, 27, is from Murray and an ISU graduate. She has a degree in event management, which is a great background for her new director duties. She also interned and volunteered at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a year, the non profit work also helping her toward her responsibilities as OCMS director. For the last four years Eckels has been an administrator at Wells Fargo, spending time in administrative work as well as helping with events there.
All her previous work leads up to her seeing an advertisement in the newspaper for the OCMS director position.
I think this realm is new,” said Eckels of her work at the Chamber.
She will be responsible for helping businesses and grant writing. She will be the main person in charge of coordinating and running all local OCMS events.
I have a lot to learn,” said Eckels.
Friday the 31st was her second full day on the job after going to conferences. While she is still learning the in’s and out’s she is excited about her career at OCMS and “all the opportunities and working with all kinds of different people”.
Every day won’t be the same,” said Eckels.
To contact Eckels visit her office at OCMS, 115 E. Washington street or email her at ocms@iowatelecom.net.
