Starting Monday, July 1st, the UnityPoint Clinic will become the Clarke County Clinic as a department of the Clarke County Hospital. With expanded hours and additional providers, this move will ensure long-term viability of the clinic, and create an opportunity to expand access to care for the people in Clarke County and the surrounding areas.

Providers George Fotiadis, M.D., Ben Hicks, M.D., Susan Gilbert, D.N.P.., and Lori Cannon, D.N.P. will all continue to take appointments and see patients in the clinic. Dr. Weissinger, D.O., Chief Medical Officer at Clarke County Hospital, will also be available for scheduled appointments in the clinic. Starting in July, patients will also have access to walk-in services with the addition of Laura Schiltz, P.A. providing care. Liz Cain, ARNP and Libby Allen, ARNP will join the clinic staff in August. Angie McIntosh, RN, who has been the Care Coordinator at the UnityPoint Clinic has accepted the position of Clinic Manager, continuing the excellence of local leadership in Clarke County.

“It is imperative that we continue to maintain and grow patient access to healthcare services in our community,” said Brian Evans, Chief Executive Officer at Clarke County Hospital.

The clinic will become a department of Clarke County Hospital, an affiliate of UnityPoint Health. This relationship allows a seamless transition for current patients with no need to transfer records, as the clinic and hospital will continue to have a shared electronic health record with UnityPoint Health. All clinic phone numbers will stay the same and patients will still have the ability to schedule appointments online through the MyUnityPoint.com website.

Other benefits of the acquisition include a streamlining of the registration process. Whether patients are in need of family medicine services, a specialist’s care, or a walk-in appointment, they will have one location to go to for registration and clinical exam rooms, eliminating confusion and making patient care more efficient. Clarke County Hospital has taken this opportunity to add a couple new positions that will also benefit the clinic, including a triage nurse and a medical interpreter.

The UnityPoint Clinic will close at noon on Friday, June 28, and will reopen as Clarke County Clinic at 7:00am on Monday, July 1. Moving forward, the clinic will offer Walk- in services 7 days a week to serve the community. Walk-in hours are 7:00am-7:00pm Monday through Friday, and from 9:00am-5:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. All phone numbers will remain unchanged. The Family Medicine providers will offer services Monday – Friday from 7am – 5pm for scheduled appointments with their family physicians and advanced practitioners.

During the transition, there will be walk-in availability at the Hospital from 10:00am-5:00pm June 29-30.
